CURTIS CLAY

It all started in a little ole church, in a very small Texas town, and it was truly just the beginning. Curtis Clay has been singing in front of people since he was eight years old, and he doesn't plan on stopping any time soon.

By the time Curtis was in high school, he was the lead singer of a gospel group that opened concerts for all of the major Gospel acts coming through Austin, Texas at that time. Shirley Caesar, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, and The Williams Brothers, are just a few of the performers he has shared the stage with.

It was when Curtis attended Sul Ross State University, and continued performing as a solo singer, that things really started to happen for him. He opened for everyone that came through the small college town, including Texas Legend, Tish Hinojosa.

Curtis married around that time, and he, and his wife Annette, had their first child. They headed for California.

Curtis continued to sing and write his songs, and developed a loyal following in southern California. During this time, he met legendary lead singer, Ali-Ollie Woodson, of the Temptations, and was given the opportunity to perform the classic "My Girl" on stage with Ali and The Temptations on numerous occasions.

Curtis has performed for the live audiences of several TV shows, including The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Living Single, and The Arsenio Hall Show. And, on several occasions, he's performed the National Anthem for the Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the San Diego Padres.

In 1995, Curtis was voted “Top Male Amateur Vocalist” for the state of California.

When Curtis was meeting with the A&R representative of a major record label, he had an epiphany when the representative stated, “I really hear some country in all of your soulfulness." This was a defining moment in Curtis career.

Within a few short years, Curtis was asked to become the newest member of the world renowned group, The Platters. Ever since that time, his vocals have mesmerized fans all around the world. He now shares his unique vocal abilities, as well as his tremendous gift of songwriting, in his new single, “He Paid It All.”
